Timber trade prices in Finland saw a 16% increase in June

Timber prices in Finland reached record highs in June, with pine and birch pulpwood at their highest in 30 years.

Roundwood trade volumes in June were 33% higher than the previous year.

Timber trade for the H1 of the year matched last year's levels and was 16% above the five-year average.

In June, spruce log prices rose over €83 per cubic meter, pine logs nearly €80, and birch logs exceeded €67.

Log prices were at levels not seen since 2007-2008, with spruce pulpwood approaching €35 and birch and pine around €33.

Spruce pulpwood prices in delivery sales exceeded €51, with birch and pine around €50; spruce prices were last this high in 2008, and birch and pine reached new highs.

June’s timber trade volumes were 33% higher than last year and 10% above the five-year average.

From January to June, timber trade volumes matched last year's levels and were 16% above the 5-year average, with logs up 19% and pulpwood up 9%.
