Tolko Industries halved its lumber production at Armstrong mill, cutting 65 jobs

Posted on April 24, 2023   |

Tolko Industries dropped its lumber operation at Armstrong mill from 2 shifts to 1 shift on 17 April, which will affect 65 employees.

The company is permanently halving its shifts at its Soda Creek operation, which will impact 65 workers.

In total, 100 million board feet of lumber will be removed from each site's annual production, affecting several workers.

The lack of available economic fiber in the area, high log prices, and weak markets are affecting the company's ability to be fully operational.
