UK increased furniture imports from tropical countries by 28% from January to May

- From January to May 2022, the UK imported $374 million of tropical wood furniture which is a year-on-year increase of 28%.
- In the first 5 months of 2022, the value of imports from Vietnam grew by28% to $182 million, from Malaysia it grew by 6% to $67 million, from India it grew by 47% to $45 million, from Indonesia it grew by 53% to $39 million, from Singapore it grew by 2% to $27 million, and from Thailand, it grew by 25% to $9 million.
- Imports of wooden furniture grew by 3% to 78 thousand tons, which is an increase in the cost of imports due to price inflation.
