UK’s tropical plywood imports fell by 18% from January to May

  • From January to May, in the UK, tropical hardwood plywood imports fell annually by 18% to 106,000 m³.
  • Imports of tropical plywood from Indonesia increased but imports from China continued to fall. 
  • In the first 5 months, the UK imported 30.3 thousand m³ of plywood from Indonesia, which is an increase of 21% compared to the same period of last year.
  • Deliveries from Malaysia and China fell by 9% to 29.1 thousand m³ and 28% to 27.6 thousand m³ respectively compared to the same period in 2021.
  • The tropical sawnwood imports into the UK grew by 49% to 47.5 thousand m³  in the first five months of 2022 compared to the same period last year.
