US Forest Service offers $25 million to reduce wildfire risk
Posted on August 14, 2024 |
The US Department of Agriculture’s Forest Service has introduced a funding opportunity through the hazardous fuels transportation assistance program.
This program helps reduce wildfire risk, boost market opportunities, and support local jobs by aiding businesses and partners in removing and transporting hazardous fuels from national forests.
Hazardous fuels, which are often low-value woody materials, pose wildfire risks but can be repurposed into useful products or services.
The program offers financial assistance to help cover the high transportation costs of these materials.
Applications for the grant are open for 30 days, with project selections to be announced later this year.
