US Softwood Export Council secures new FAS funding to boost global markets

Posted on June 21, 2024   |

The Softwood Export Council (SEC) received new funding from the USDA’s Regional Agricultural Promotion Program (RAPP).

SEC will use this funding to explore opportunities in Vietnam and India and to complete Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) for US softwood products.

The SEC will collaborate with groups like the American Wood Council, National Wooden Pallet and Container Association, and Oregon State University for product testing and LCAs.

The SEC will also focus on educating about US softwood products.

LCAs will help meet new environmental laws and consumer preferences for sustainable products.

These assessments will evaluate the environmental impact and greenhouse gas emissions of US softwood products.

The SEC's efforts aim to make US softwood products more sustainable and appealing in international markets.
