US wood pellet exports dip 21% to 796,988 million tons in September

In September, the US shipped out 796,988 million metric tons of wood pellets, marking a 21% drop from August and 1% from September 2022.

The US distributed wood pellets to multiple nations in September, with the UK, Japan, and the Netherlands emerging as the top 3 importers, purchasing 495,640.0 metric tons, 146,157.3 metric tons, and 47,333.5 metric tons, respectively.

The total value of US wood pellet exports for September amounted to $147.53 million, a drop from August's $183.07 million but an increase compared to September 2022's $143.2 million.

Throughout the first 9 months of 2023, the US exported a cumulative 7.04 million metric tons of wood pellets worth $1.3 billion. 

This reflects growth compared to the same period the previous year, which saw 6.63 million metric tons valued at $1.15 billion.
