Uzbekistan climbs to top 5 in Belarusian sawn timber purchases

Posted on September 11, 2023   |

In the 8 months from January to August, Uzbekistan has risen to become one of the top 5 markets for sawn timber trading on the Belarusian Commodity Exchange (BUCE).

Among the primary buyers of Belarusian-sawn products on BUCE are China, Azerbaijan, Singapore, and Russia, comprising the list of the most prominent purchasers.

Transactions for the purchase of wood products on BUCE involved companies from a total of 15 different nations.

Notably, there has been a remarkable increase in the export of domestic wood products to Uzbekistan, with growth exceeding 8.5 times when compared to the same timeframe in the preceding year.

This surge can be attributed to the rising number of Uzbekistani bidders, with 18 companies from Uzbekistan participating in sawn timber transactions, with the majority of them joining BUCE within the last 3-4 months.
