Vietnam aims to achieve a $16 billion export target for wood and wood products this year.

Key export markets for Vietnam include China, the US, Japan, South Korea, and the EU.

Wood and wood product exports to Europe experienced positive growth in January 2024, with shipments to the Netherlands reaching $9.2 million, up 5% from December and nearly double the amount in January 2023.

Overall wood and wood products exports totaled $1.4 billion in January 2024, marking a 4.6% increase from December 2023 and a significant 75% rise from January 2023.

Concerns persist among wood exporters regarding rising transportation costs, particularly due to tensions in the Red Sea prompting shipping diversions for safety reasons.

Despite these concerns, transportation costs to the EU and the US have begun to ease in recent weeks, providing some relief to exporters.
