West Fraser Timber to cut operations at Cariboo Pulp & Paper Facility in Q2 and Q3

Posted on February 13, 2023   |

West Fraser Timber Co. Ltd. is planning to curtail operations at the Cariboo Pulp & Paper facility, which it jointly owns with Mercer International in Quesnel, British Columbia, starting in mid-April and then again for another month in Q3.

The downtime will align production capacity with the available fiber supply, which has been reduced due to the lack of available sawmill residuals.

West Fraser expects to mitigate some of the impacts on its affected Cariboo Pulp & Paper employees through vacation scheduling and alternative work assignments.
