Western Forest Products (WFP) has notified employees at its Chemainus, BC, sawmill of a 2-week shutdown starting from the week of March 18th.

The shutdown is due to market conditions and log availability, with a similar closure happening during the Christmas period.

This shutdown follows WFP's completion of a kiln upgrade at its Saltair Division.

WFP also announced plans to invest $35 million (CAD) in continuous dry kilns for its Nanaimo and Chemainus divisions.
