Weyerhaeuser to invest $500 million in new TimberStrand facility in Arkansas

Posted on November 21, 2024   |

Weyerhaeuser will invest $500 million to build a new TimberStrand facility in Monticello and Warren, Arkansas, increasing its engineered wood product capacity in the US South.

The new facility will have an annual production of 10 million cubic feet, similar to the existing TimberStrand plant in Kenora, Ontario.

Construction is set to start in 2025, with operations expected to begin in 2027.

The new plant will cater to the growing demand for TimberStrand in the US South, a market currently underserved.

Weyerhaeuser will use its TimberStrand technology, combining knowledge from the Kenora plant with research and development efforts.

The facility will primarily use Southern yellow pine as the feedstock for TimberStrand production, enhancing innovation in wood products.
