Posted on September 1, 2023   |

Wood framing maintained its prominence in the US single-family housing sector during 2022, constituting 94% of completions. Concrete-framed homes represented 6% of completions, while steel-framed homes accounted for less than 0.5%.

In the same year, 956,000 wood-framed homes were finalized, showcasing a 7% increase from the previous year.

This growth propelled wood-framed market share from 90% in 2019 to 94% in 2022.

The prevalence of steel-framed homes remained limited, with a steady 3,000 completions observed in both 2021 and 2022.

Conversely, concrete-framed homes experienced their third consecutive year of decline, witnessing an 11% decrease from 71,000 completions in 2021 to 63,000 in 2022.
