Baltic Index broadens losses due to weak demand for big ships

The overall index, which considers rates for Capesize, Panamax, and Supramax shipping vessels hauling dry bulk commodities, fell by 4.1% to 1,183, the biggest drop since June 1.
The Capesize index fell by 6.7%, to 1,937, and average daily revenues for Capesizes, transporting 150,000-tonne cargoes, fell from $1,141 to $16,068.
