BNSF Railroad and Norfolk Southern (NS) have reached tentative 5-year contract agreements with additional unions, ahead of national collective bargaining set to begin in four months.

Norfolk Southern's new agreements with five unions follow four tentative deals announced last week, covering 55% of its unionized workforce.

The recent agreements, made jointly by NS and BNSF Railway, include the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers and Blacksmiths, and the National Conference of Firemen and Oilers.

Norfolk Southern also reached separate tentative deals with the American Train Dispatchers Association, the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division, and the SMART-TD Yardmasters.

BNSF had previously secured agreements with four other unions, including the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen Division/TCU, SMART-Mechanical Division, the Transportation Communications Union/IAM, and the American Train Dispatchers Association.

These new agreements are subject to approval by the union members.
