Carriers suffered a $15 billion loss in profits in Q4 2022
Posted on April 10, 2023 |
In the fiscal year 2022, the shipping industry saw a combined EBIT of $138 billion, except for CMA CGM, MSC, and PIL despite this, the shipping market exhibited signs of decay.
These shipping lines were unable to grow their EBIT. 5 carriers saw a Y/Y EBIT decline between $1-2 billion, and 3 carriers saw a decline of over $2 billion which declined Y/Y EBIT by 46% or $15 billion.
The bigger carriers kept their EBIT/TEU levels similar to those of Q4 2021 but the smaller carriers couldn't replicate the same levels.
