China’s seaborne container shipments to US surge 15% YoY in June

China’s seaborne container shipments to the US rose 15% year-on-year in June, showing strong supply and demand despite US decoupling efforts.

Growth was driven by early Christmas preparations and a seasonal shopping boom in late November.

The number of 20-foot containers from Asia to the US increased by 16% year-on-year, marking 10 straight months of growth.

Containers from mainland China, accounting for nearly 60% of the total, grew by 15%.

All top 10 product categories saw year-on-year increases, with automotive products up 25% and textiles up 24%.

Trade between China and the US reached 420.94 billion yuan ($57.8 billion) in June, up 2.9% from last year.

China’s exports to the US increased by 4.7%, maintaining a positive trend.

The rise in container shipments underscores resilient trade relations despite ongoing geopolitical tensions.
