CMA CGM rolls out peak season surcharges from China to West Africa

CMA CGM has announced new peak season surcharges (PSS) from China to West Africa, starting in the coming months.

From 7 December, CMA CGM will apply a US$400 per TEU surcharge for dry containers from Central China and North China to West Africa North Range, which includes Liberia, Senegal, Mauritania, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, and Sao Tome & Principe.

A US$250/TEU surcharge will be implemented for dry cargo from South China to West Africa North Range.

One week after the initial announcement, the PSS from Central China and North China to West Africa North Range will increase to US$800/TEU, while the surcharge from South China to West Africa North Range will rise to US$650/TEU.

CMA CGM will introduce a PSS of US$150/TEU for dry boxes from all Chinese ports to the West Africa Central Range, which includes Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Benin, Ghana, Togo, and Equatorial Guinea. This surcharge will take effect on 15 December.

Starting 1 January 2025, CMA CGM will implement a PSS of US$250 per dry 20′ container for shipments from China to West Africa South Range, including Angola, Congo, DRC, Namibia, Gabon, and Cameroon.
