Container line schedule reliability grew by 2.4% points in March, returning to pre-covid levels

The global container line schedule reliability grew by 2.4% points in March to reach an average of 62.6%, following a surprising 7.7% points increase in reliability between January-February 2023. 

The schedule reliability improved by 26.8% points, and the average delay for late vessel arrivals is dropping.

March saw a month-on-month decline of 0.26 days, lowering the average delay to 5.03 days, which is slightly higher than compared to 2020 and significantly lower by 2.41 days when compared year-on-year.

13 of the top-14 carriers saw improvements in schedule reliability, with ZIM registering the biggest increase of 7.1% points.

Maersk was the top carrier with schedule reliability of 68.6%, followed by MSC with 67.7%.

5 more carriers saw rates above 60% and the rest carriers showcased reliability figures between 50% and 60%.

HMM saw a slight decline of 0.1% points, while Yang Ming had the least schedule reliability of 53.4%.
