Dockworkers union warns of strikes on US East and Gulf coasts in 2024

The president of the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) is warning about a potential strike next year if no agreement is reached with employers.

ILA represents over 70,000 dockworkers across various regions, including the east coast of the US and Canada, the Gulf Coast, the Great Lakes, Puerto Rico, and inland waterways.

The ILA previously stated that they won't extend their current 6-year pact with the US Maritime Alliance (USMX).

On November 7, ILA President Daggett will provide an update on contract negotiations and advise members to prepare for the possibility of a coast-wide strike in October 2024.

The ILA is determined to stick to its commitment regarding the contract extension.
