DP World launches $1.2 billion maritime operations in Senegal Port

DP World started marine operations at the $1.2 billion Port of Ndayane to make Senegal a key global trade hub.

The first phase includes building an 840-meter wharf and a 5-kilometer waterway to handle the world’s largest ships and process 1.2 million TEUs annually.

In the second phase, DP World will add a 410-meter dock to increase the port’s capacity.

DP World boosted container handling at the Port of Dakar from 300,000 TEUs in 2008 to 800,000 TEUs in 2023, paving the way for the Ndayane project.

The Port of Ndayane solves the expansion challenges of the Dakar port, supporting Senegal’s growing trade and economic goals.
