DP World launches UK initiative to support carbon reduction for cargo owners
Posted on September 11, 2023 |
DP World initiated the "Modal Shift Programme" at its Southampton Logistics Hub.
The program incentivizes cargo owners to transition from road transport to rail, reducing carbon emissions.
DP World expects to prevent up to 30,000 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually through this initiative.
Financial incentives for cargo owners are generated from a nominal fee applied to all import-laden containers passing through DP World Southampton.
Participants in the Modal Shift Programme can receive incentives ranging from £10 to £70, depending on the proximity of the railhead to DP World Southampton.
