Evergreen wraps up 2023 as the shipping industry leader

Global schedule reliability experienced a notable drop of 5.0% in December 2023 to 56.8%, primarily due to heightened tensions in the Red Sea.

December 2023 marked the second-lowest schedule reliability of the year, with a modest 0.4% increase compared to the same month in 2022.

The round-of-Africa sailings led to a decline in average delays for late vessel arrivals, increasing by 0.30 days month-over-month to 5.35 days.

Among the top 13 carriers, Evergreen ranked as the most reliable in December 2023, boasting schedule reliability of 63.6%, followed closely by CMA CGM, the only other carrier exceeding the 60% mark.

Six carriers maintained schedule dependability within the 50-60% range, while the remaining five carriers fell into the 40-50% schedule reliability range, with Yang Ming having the lowest at 45.6% in December 2023.

None of the top 13 carriers showed improvement in schedule reliability on a month-over-month basis due to increasing transit durations across Africa, and only four carriers exhibited improvement year-over-year.
