French ports brace for month-long chaos due to worker strikes

French ports, including Le Havre and Marseille-Fos, face a month of disruption due to planned worker strikes.

Dockers and port workers are staging one-day strikes and four-hour stoppages to protest pension reforms.

The first 24-hour strike blocked Le Havre's terminals, causing four ship cancellations and 18 delays.

Around 600 workers blocked truck entry at the Fos terminal during the initial strike.

Other affected ports include Dunkirk, Rouen, Bordeaux, and Nantes Saint-Nazaire, with delays for ships and barges.

Unions feel betrayed by the president's broken promise not to change the retirement age for dockworkers.

More 24-hour strikes are planned for June 13, 21, and 25, with additional four-hour stoppages, possibly extending into July.
