Global schedule reliability rises by 0.9% to reach 51.5% in October

Global schedule reliability rose by 0.9 percentage points, reaching 51.5% in October 2024.

In 2024, schedule reliability mostly stayed between 50% and 55%, giving shippers a more predictable range despite the low figures.

The average delay for late vessel arrivals dropped by 0.14 days per month, now averaging 5.72 days, the second-highest since the 2021 pandemic peak.

Maersk was the most reliable of the top-13 carriers in October 2024, with a reliability of 57.9%, followed by MSC at 52.0%.

Ten of the remaining 11 top-13 carriers had reliability rates between 40% and 50%, with PIL at the bottom with 37.2%.

Eight top-13 carriers saw improvements in reliability MoM in October, with Wan Hai showing the biggest rise of 5.4 percentage points, and ZIM the largest decline of 3.5 percentage points.

No top-13 carriers saw improvements in reliability YoY, with 12 carriers showing double-digit reductions.
