ILWU reached a deal with PMA on labor issues at West Coast ports

On April 20, The International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and Pacific Maritime Association (PMA) reached an indefinite agreement on specific critical issues, although negotiations are still on.

In July, the union and the employer reached an indefinite agreement on the terms for the maintenance of health benefits.

In February, they jointly issued a press release saying, negotiations are still on and they remain hopeful about reaching an agreement soon.

In recent, the weary relations between the ILWU and PMA had grown due to the closure of important terminals at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach.

The joint bargaining agreement being negotiated by the ILWU and PMA covers over 22,000 longshore workers at 29 ports in the western part of the US.

The parties are often meeting in San Francisco to negotiate the collective bargaining agreement and remain committed to achieving an agreement.
