Israel to compensate every vessel affected in conflict with Hamas

Posted on November 3, 2023   |

Israel has pledged to compensate ships that suffer damage within its waters during the ongoing conflict with Hamas, acknowledging the supply chain risks.

Ships heading to Israel are already subject to some of the world's highest war risk surcharges, trailing only Yemen and the Black Sea, leading to adjustments in shipping schedules by some companies.

Recently, the Taiwanese liner Evergreen redirected a feeder ship away from Israel, invoking a force majeure clause.

Compensation will be provided for "war damage" incurred by both Israeli and foreign vessels within Israel's economic waters.
