Maersk announces temporary halt to Red Sea container ship traffic

A decision has been made by A.P. Moller-Maersk to temporarily halt all container shipments passing through the Red Sea.

The vessel Maersk Gibraltar was attacked by a missile during its journey from Salalah, Oman, to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Fortunately, both the crew and the ship are reported to be safe.

In response, all Maersk vessels in the region are instructed to navigate through the Bab al-Mandab Strait and pause their voyages until additional instructions are provided
