Maersk outlines a 3-year investment strategy with a focus on its Logistics and services division, directing substantial funds into its Ocean and terminal infrastructure.
The primary goal of this investment is to enhance supply chain resilience, trim trade costs (which can be 2x-3x higher in specific Asian countries), and deliver added value to clients.
Maersk plans to increase investment in warehousing and distribution by up to 50% across the region, providing support for both international and domestic markets.
By 2026, the company envisions adding 480,000 sq m of capacity across Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Philippines.
A significant portion of Maersk's investment will go into the Port of Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia, aiming to establish it as a vital integrated logistics center with multi-modal connectivity.
