Shipping group Maersk filed a lawsuit against the owner and operator of container ship Ever Given as it blocked the Suez Canal for 6 days in 2021, claiming compensation for delays induced by the incident.
In March 2021, Ever Given, one of the world’s largest container ships congested the canal with high winds for 6 days, halting traffic in both directions and disrupting global trade.
The ship is chartered by Taiwanese shipping company Evergreen from Japan’s Shoei Kisen, which owns the ship.
