The Saudi Ports Authority signed a deal with the UK’s Lloyd’s Register to simplify and improve maritime operations across Saudi ports.

Lloyd’s Register and Mawani are creating manuals and guidelines, including quality and environmental procedures, that follow ISO standards to boost efficiency.

Mawani aims to improve operations and strengthen Saudi Arabia’s global trade connections to support national exports.

The Saudi Ports Authority plans to increase container capacity at its ports from 20 million to over 40 million as part of this agreement.

Saudi Arabia is upgrading its logistics systems under the National Transport and Logistics Strategy to grow the sector’s share of GDP from 6% to 10%.

Mawani is working to obtain global certifications, like ISO 9001:2015 for quality and ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management, to meet international standards.
