New Long-Term Slot Allocation system at Panama Canal begins on October 1

New Long-Term Slot Allocation system at Panama Canal begins on October 1

Posted on August 30, 2024   |

Following the Long Term Slot Allocation (LoTSA) announcement, full container market customers have asked for more time to review the new system.

The LoTSA start date has been delayed for most market segments, except LNG and LPG, which will proceed as originally planned.

The delay allows more clients to participate and aims to ensure the successful rollout of the LoTSA system.

LoTSA, introduced for Neopanamax vessels, is part of the Transit Booking System to improve transit reliability and flexibility.

The new system will offer various booking slot packages, letting clients secure multiple bookings in a single transaction.

The LoTSA method is designed to provide better and more flexible transit options through the Panama Canal.
