New US shipping bill restricts vessel sharing- World Shipping Council (WSC)
Posted on March 31, 2023 |
The WSC argued that the Shipping bill set rules that allowed space sharing on ships to ocean carriers.
In turn, this allows more carriers to compete on the path, which offers more regular sailings and serves more ports; from a customer standpoint, it is low costs, better service, and low transport emissions.
However, WSC is concerned that the new ruling, H.R. 1696, can end the vessel sharing system, which damages competitiveness and liner shipping service's choices.
