Norway to enforce stricter reporting rules for foreign ships entering its waters
Posted on November 21, 2024 |
Starting next year, foreign vessels entering Norwegian waters will face stricter reporting rules from the Ministry of Defence.
These regulations aim to boost maritime security and improve authorities’ ability to assess threats.
The revised Port of Call Regulations will increase oversight of foreign vessels in Norwegian waters.
The reporting requirement will now apply to vessels over 15 meters, down from 24 meters, affecting smaller vessels like yachts and tugs.
Unmanned and autonomous vessels will also need to follow the new reporting rules.
All foreign vessels must submit arrival notifications through SafeSeaNet Norway (SSN).
Vessels that don’t comply with the reporting requirements may face penalties.
