Japan experienced a 7.9% increase in container exports to the US in October, reaching 54,409 TEU.

The Japan International Freight Forwarders Association Inc. (JIFFA) reported a 10.2% decrease in September, making the October rise a positive shift.

In contrast, transshipped containers on the way amounted to 18,228 TEU, marking a 15.3% decrease.

China and Taiwan contributed to Japan's container exports, with both showing decreases of 10.2% and 8.8%, respectively.

On the import side, Japan received 49,433 TEU from the US in September.

  • Direct shipments were up 0.4%, while containers carried via third nations were down 20.5%. Tokyo, Yokohama, Kobe, Nagoya, and Osaka reported increases in imported TEU.
