Panama Canal Authority to boost daily transit limit to 33 from July 11

Posted on June 17, 2024   |

The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) will increase daily transits from 32 to 33 on July 11 and to 34 on July 22 due to rising Gatun Lake levels and the rainy season.

The ACP will raise the draft limit from 13.7 meters to 14 meters starting June 15.

Since May last year, daily transits have been reduced because of a record-breaking drought.

These changes aim to enhance canal operations as water conditions improve.

The adjustments are made possible by the seasonal rains improving water levels in the Panama Canal watershed.
