The Port of Rotterdam Authority reached an agreement with its shareholders CMA CGM, DP World, Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL), and HMM to develop the Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG) terminal.

Phase 1 will see an additional berth for the deepsea activities and, in addition to capacity expansion, the focus will also be on future‐oriented facilities, consisting of automation, sustainability, and connectivity remaining central.

The extra berth is an add-on to RWG’s existing terminal which is fully automated, CO2-neutral, and reliable to handle facilities for all modalities.

The whole investment is $545 million which includes dock cranes, civil works, electrical automatic guided vehicles, and storage modules with automatic stacking cranes.

The Port of Rotterdam Authority already began constructing the quay in the Amaliahaven, which will be operational at the end of Q4 2025 with a commercial introduction in 2026.
