Red Sea crisis extends Asia-Mediterranean transit times by 39%

From January to March 2024, transit times between Asia and the Mediterranean grew by 39% compared to the previous six months.

Transit times for ships from Asia to North Europe rose by 15%.

Routes to the East and Central Mediterranean were most affected, with transit times increasing by 61-63% and 39-40%, respectively.

Connections to North Europe, particularly those to the Baltics, experienced a more moderate increase in transit times, ranging from 7-11%.
