Romania's government approves $229 million dredging initiative for Constanta Port

An urgent dredging program is underway at one of Europe's rapidly expanding ports to manage overflow from the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

The Romanian government has given the green light to a $229 million, 3-year dredging project at the Black Sea port of Constanta.

With Russia's withdrawal from the UN-backed Black Sea Grain Initiative, Ukraine has shifted more exports through the Danube and Constanta Port.

Constanta, the busiest Black Sea port, is facing strain from increased traffic, surpassing its intended capacity.
