Russian hackers in suspicion of cyberattacks on the Canadian ports
Posted on April 24, 2023 |
The websites of the Port of Montreal, Port of Halifax, and Port of Québec crashed due to a surge of cyberattacks.
It is uncertain who initiated this attack, but a pro-Russian group, NoName057(16) was responsible for another attack that happened 2 days after Prime Minister met with Denys Shmyhal, in Toronto.
The Canadian Prime Minister related the recent cyberattacks to Russia, showing the seriousness of the situation.
The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security issued a notice about the actual risk of physical damage to the country’s critical infrastructure from cyber-attacks.
The Canadian government also urged necessary infrastructure organizations to follow government guidelines to protect against such attacks.
