Suez Canal to impose a 15% transit fee hike from January 15

Posted on October 20, 2023

Starting on January 15, 2024, the Suez Canal Authority is raising transit fees by up to 15%.

This 15% fee increase applies to various ship types, including oil tankers, gas tankers, containers, car carriers, and passenger ships.

Dry bulk cargo ships and general cargo ships will see a 5% fee increase.

Notably, container ships traveling directly from northwestern European ports to Far Eastern ports will be spared from this fee increase.

These adjustments mean that different ships will face varying fee changes, and some ships are excluded based on their specific routes
