
Supply chain in a disturbance as Russia-Ukraine war shook up trade trends

In 2022, shipments to Russia and Ukraine were down, but at present, Ukraine’s supply chain is improving gradually while Russia’s supply chain is continuing to worsen more.
The 14-day average Russian import volume fell annually by 96.2% since August.
In the last month, deliveries to Ukraine are on the rise as the average volume of imports grew annually by 14.3%, which is still at a low before the Russian invasion for most of 2022.
The dwell times for ocean shipments in major European ports such as Rotterdam, Antwerp, and Bremerhaven have declined.
As of 26 February, the average dwell time for imports and exports in these ports was 5.6 days and 6.1 days, respectively, which is a decline of 18.4% and 36% from the average dwell time of February 2022.
Across all European ports, the dwell times for ocean shipments have decreased for both transshipments and exports; the 28-day average dwell time for exports and transshipments was 7.1 days and 6.3 days, respectively, a drop of 26.8% and 28.4% from the previous year.
