Teamsters Canada schedules 2nd strike vote for CN and CKPC rail workers

Posted on July 1, 2024   |

The union for over 9,000 CN and CKPC railroad workers has started a second strike vote due to stalled contract talks.

CN and CPKC workers authorized a strike on May 1st, which could have started on May 22nd.

The Canadian Labor Minister paused the strike on May 13th by referring the dispute to the CIRB to assess its impact on public safety.

The TCRC's second strike vote began on Friday and will finish on June 29th, with the current mandate expiring on June 30th.

Canadian law requires union members to approve a strike within 60 days before it can be declared.
