UK to spend £10.5 million on ports for new post-Brexit EU security checks

Britain will spend £10.5 million to help ports prepare for new EU security checks for UK travelers.

The investment aims to reduce delays and disruptions at ports with the upcoming digital border system.

Starting this autumn, the EU will require UK and non-EU travelers to register with biometric data like face scans and fingerprints.

The funds will be used to install new technology, set up kiosks, and train staff at ports.

These measures are part of the EU’s new entry and exit system (EES) being introduced.

This investment comes more than four years after the UK departs from the EU.
