German dockworkers will soon vote on a new deal after several negotiation rounds and recent port disruptions.

The union Ver.di suggest workers accept the offer from the Central Association of German Seaport Enterprises (ZDS).

The proposed 14-month deal, valid until August 2025, includes a €1.15 ($1.27) hourly wage increase from October and a €430 boost in holiday pay.

The deal also offers higher overtime pay, and a €1,700 tax-free inflation bonus for all employees in October 2024.

Vote results will be announced by the end of September, with the Ver.di Federal Tariff Commission meeting on September 27.

On September 6, some rail operators, including Metrans, were locked out of the Port of Hamburg due to issues at the terminals.

Metrans reported that the situation at the Port of Hamburg terminals has worsened recently.
