The goal is to create well-paying, permanent jobs and boost US shipbuilding competitiveness.

Companies such as HD Hyundai, Bollinger Shipyards, Davie Shipbuilding, and Konecranes plan to expand or start operations in the US.

The US Maritime Administration awarded $8.75 million in grants to 15 small shipyards in 12 states to upgrade facilities and create jobs.

The Michigan Maritime Manufacturing Initiative aims to strengthen the Navy’s marine workforce, starting with submarine manufacturing skills.

The US, Canada, and Finland will build polar icebreakers and invite other nations to purchase them.

Over the next 6 months, the US, Canada, and Finland will draft a trilateral agreement to implement this plan in each country.
