US government files $100 million lawsuit against Dali vessel owners

The US Department of Justice is suing for over $100 million to cover costs related to reopening the Port of Baltimore after the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

On March 26, the Motor Vessel Dali, bound for Sri Lanka, lost power and hit the bridge in the Fort McHenry Channel.

The crash caused the bridge to fall into the river, tragically killing six people.

The wreckage from the ship and the collapsed bridge blocked the canal, stopping all trade at the Port of Baltimore.

The lawsuit seeks to recover the expenses spent on responding to the accident and clearing debris from the canal to restart port operations.

The US government is requesting compensation for the cleanup and financial losses from the incident.
