US West Coast strike threat averted as dockworkers ratify new 6-year contract

Posted on September 11, 2023   |

US West Coast dockworkers have chosen to approve a 6-year contract with the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA), effectively eliminating the threat of strikes.

This contract, retroactive from July 1, 2022, contains a 32% wage increase over its duration and a single bonus payment for those who worked during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The conclusion of this agreement signifies the end of a significant period of labor unrest along the US West Coast.
