US workers refused Canadian cargo as strike spreads at BC ports
Posted on July 14, 2023 |
BC port strikes are starting to have an international effect as U.S. port workers reject to take containers from Vancouver to Seattle.
7,400 members of the ILWU Canada are on strike since July 1st, halting cargo handling at 30 ports, including the Port of Vancouver.
Jurisdiction over maintenance, enhanced wages, language to control contracting out, and automation, are critical issues in the conflict.
